Vladimir Karatkevich, writer, poet, playwright, publicist, is one of the most prominent Belarusian writers of the 20th century. He was the first among Belarusian writers to turn to the historical detective story, and in general he enriched Belarusian literature with new genres with intellectual and philosophical content. His most famous works are King Stakh's Wild Hunt, Ears of Ears Under Your Sickle, and The Black Castle of Olshansky.
